Three members of the BWK Squad travelled to compete in Essex on May 13th. The standard of competitors was extremely high. A wide range of Karateka practicing many different styles attended the event. Tracksuits bearing the name 'England' were evident everywhere you looked and the standard of Karate, in particular Kata, was exceptional.
Fallon Rayman performed her Kata, with flag rules, but lost out by two flags to one to her opponent who eventually took Gold.
Next up was Shannan Rayman. Shannan has been working hard perfecting his stances and the sharpness of his Kata. He chose to perform Pinan Godan and it was sharp and accurate enough to secure Gold for AIWa.
Kelly Johnson performed her Kata to a very high standard but narrowly lost out on flag rules to a brilliantly executed shotokan Kata that medalled.
Fallon Rayman then took to the mat in the girls Kumite and took silver for BWK after narrowly losing in enchosen 2-1 to the current 'All Styles' Champion who had until then trounced all her opponents. Fallon gave the girl a tough match and made her work hard for her victory.
Shannan Rayman was happy to settle for Bronze after being deservedly beaten for a place in the final by an outstanding performance by the current WKF Champion.
Last up was Kelly, again the competition was tough. Some excellent karate and well timed gyakazukis saw her take the final medal of the day. Another bronze for BWK! This took the final tally of the day to one Gold, one Silver, four Bronzes, and many happy faces.
